About CTB Networks
CTB Networks was founded in 2009 by telecom veterans Vern Fotheringham and Shigeaki (Shey) Hakusui. The CTB management team has been engaged with the global wireless telecommunications industry for two decades, and has substantial expertise in spectrum acquisition, wireless technology and wireless market launches. They have been company founders and developers of advanced wireless and network technologies that have resulted in the creation of several of the leading companies, technologies and new markets that form the foundation of much of the present wireless communications industry.
Why CTB?
Incumbent cellular operators, cable companies, and satellite TV providers are struggling to meet the explosive demand for mobile bandwidth, currently growing at a compound annual growth rate of 129% (source: Cisco). CTB’s solution provides these companies the increased bandwidth and mobility needed to retain customers, while also bringing broadband and broadcast services to under-served and un-served areas.
CTB’s patent-pending IPR portfolio, industry experience, and strategic partners make it uniquely positioned to capitalize on this once-in-a-generation opportunity.
Why UHF Spectrum?
With its superior range, excellent in-building penetration, and lower CapEx and OpEx requirements, UHF TV is the best spectrum available for mobile services. The recent digital conversion of TV and the FCC authorization of DTS (distributed transmission systems) and TV white space (TVWS), finally make it possible to utilize UHF for converged mobile services.
CTB’s patent pending multi-frequency cellular terrestrial network technology increases capacity by hundreds of times through frequency re-use, while also enabling full mobility, broadband Internet, and location-based services.
